It’s no surprise that these earphones were on the menu for the launch event, considering Xiaomi tweeted about them a couple of days ago asking who couldn’t wait for them while mentioning the full name in a hashtag. Well as the slightly long name suggests, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic are a more simplified version of the flagship headphones. Despite their low price tag of £49, they offer ‘environmental noise cancellation’ by way of dual-mics, meaning they can “filter background noise and ensure crystal clear sound quality for phone calls and music playback.” They also have automatic pause when you take one earphone out thanks to in-ear detection and have touch controls for playback, calls and voice control. In terms of battery life, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic can last longer than the flagship model with five hours in the headphones and three charges in the case for a total of 20 hours. They also have Bluetooth 5.0 LE, AAC and SBS codecs and USB-C so we’re struggling to see what qualifies them as ‘basic’. These might be one of the best pairs of budget wireless earbuds you can buy, and you can buy them from 16 July via the official Mi store.
