The Megablast, the loudest speaker and at the top the UE range, usually retails for £269.99, but now comes down to £129. The Blast, the second-most powerful speaker in the range and slightly more compact, is now at £99, down £100 from its £199.99 RRP. Being fully Alexa-enabled, these speakers do not need to be connected to an Echo device. They offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and work just like Echo speakers with far-field voice recognition. There’s a lot more to love too: the Megablast promises 12 hours of battery life, and in our review we found that it lasted up to 16 hours on a single charge ( we gave the Megablast 4 stars out of five). Both the Megablast and Blast also have a IP67 waterproof rating, which means it can be immersed in one metre of water for up to 30 minutes. The exterior is durable too, which keeps it safe from bumps, drops, and dust. The only issue we had with the design was that it charges from the bottom of the device, which means you can’t stand it upright while charging – unless you turn it upside down. This however, blocks sight of the LED power button. You can buy a separate charging dock though to resolve this.
