OnePlus may have ended its partnership with the British Formula 1 team but Klipsch is on hand as the official audio partner for those out there with a taste for branded gadgets. The Klipsch T5 II True Wireless Sport McLaren edition – yes that is the full product name – are “engineered for extreme performance”, whether you’re actually a racing driver or just like to go jogging in style. As you might expect with a collaboration like this, the wireless earbuds feature Papaya Orange highlights all over to match the team’s livery. This includes the ear tips, which come in no less than six sizes, plus an additional pair of Comply memory foam tips. They’re colour coded on the inside and there are separate wings so you can tailor the fit to your ears.
The fetching case is IP67 dust and waterproof, just like the earphones themselves and even has a ‘moisture removal system’ to keep them dry. The case can provide 24 hours of battery life, while the T5 II wireless earbuds can last eight hours alone. It has wireless charging built-in and a charging pad is included in the price. You also get a special edition brand book and a metal card etched with the serial number. Overall, the new range features improvements such as a 25% smaller size, 5mm Dynamic Moving Coil drivers, beamforming microphones and an exterior antenna for better signal. They also have Bluetooth 5.0, with aptX and AAC codecs. Klipsch has still gone with a push button design for control to avoid accidental pressed of touch buttons, but has made it easy to trigger the button. There’s no noise cancelling here but you can make use of a transparency mode to hear what’s going on around you. This is found in the Klipsch Connect app where you can also find EQ adjustments and battery levels.
If you’re not a McLaren fan then fear not as the T5 II come in two other flavours. The True Wireless Sport are essentially the same as the McLaren ones but without the branding, and don’t come with a wireless charging pad. Then there are the regular T5 II True Wireless which don’t have additional wing or foam tips. The case is also different with a brushed metal finish and no wireless charging or moisture removal system. Klipsch says the new T5 II range is available to pre-order today at the following prices with shipping from August/September:
