When is the Jurassic World Evolution release date?
Following initial plans to release Jurassic World Evolution in Summer 2018, Frontier has since confirmed that the game is set to be released on 12 June 2018.
Which platforms will Jurassic World Evolution support?
Jurassic World Evolution is set to be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC with support for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. There’s no Switch support though, so Nintendo fans may have to look elsewhere.
What’s Jurassic World Evolution gameplay like?
Put simply, Jurassic World Evolution is a theme park simulator with dinosaurs. Given that Frontier is the developer behind titles including the ever-popular Roller Coaster Tycoon series, it’s easy to predict that ‘Evolution’ will have broadly similar mechanics. The announcement on Frontier’s site explains little more: “the game expands on the official Jurassic World mythology and puts players in charge of cinema’s greatest tourist destination – where they will have the opportunity to create and manage their own Jurassic World. You’ll be in control of operations on Isla Nublar as well as the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. First, though you’ll have to build your own Jurassic World, breeding new dinosaurs, building attractions, containment and research facilities. You’ll have to send researchers to dig sites to unearth new fossils and grow new dinosaurs, then look after them in the park itself – including making sure they don’t get sick. There’ll be a balance throughout between entertainment, science, and security – anyone who’s seen the films can probably guess that the last one is fairly important. But as well as being a management sim, you can also get right into the action when it does go wrong. Rather than simply selecting a unit to tranq a wild dino, you can do it yourself. You’ll be transported to an FPS-esque mode where you can drive vehicles, interact with your park and tranq dinos, giving the game a whole new dimension and allowing you to personally explore your park. Apparently, your choices have consequences and “spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way’”. It’s also a partnership with Universal, so you can expect an environment exactly like the film series, with the same cinematic soundtrack (and commentary from none other than Jeff Goldblum!).
