What iPhone announcements did Apple make during the September event?
In addition to launching the Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch Series 3, Apple launched three new iPhones: the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are what we’d consider standard ‘S’ upgrades in Apple’s terms, offering a slight change in appearance with upgraded internals. The iPhone 8 features glass on the rear, allowing it to offer wireless charging compatible with the Qi charging standard.
Alongside wireless charging, the iPhone 8 Plus features a new Portrait Lighting mode. The new mode allows you to preview and apply professional lighting effects to your photos in real time, and even lets you edit them again at a later date if required.
iPhone X
The star of Apple’s September announcement was the highly-anticipated iPhone X. The iPhone X features the most radical redesign of the iPhone in recent years, ditching the Home button to feature a 5.8in edge-to-edge display.
It also features Face ID, Apple’s facial scanning technology that it’s so confident of that it uses it not only to unlock your iPhone, but also to make payments with Apple Pay and purchase apps on the App Store.
