Procedure to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on Galaxy S2 i9100:

Step 1: Download both (.zip) package files in a specific folder on your computer. Remember not to extract them. Step 2: Now using the original USB data cable connect your Galaxy S2 to the computer, and transfer both the downloaded zip files on your phones internal/external storage. Note: You may directly download both the files on your phone. Step 3: Now safely disconnect the Galaxy S2 from the computer. Switch off your device to boot into recovery mode. To enter recovery mode, press and hold the Volume up + Home button (middle button) + Power button together till you enter recovery mode. As you enter the recovery, the first and foremost thing to do is to make a Nandroid backup. Step 4: After taking Nandroid backup, you need to clear all the data/cache present on your phone’s internal memory. For doing so, navigate to the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option present on the recovery mode, and on the next screen select the ‘wipe cache partition’ option. This will clear all the data & caches from your phone’s memory. Note: A complete backup of everything must be taken before implementing this step. Step 5: Now navigate to the Advanced option located on the recovery mode itself. On the next screen select the Reboot Recovery option. Wait until you boot again into recovery. Let’s flash the actual Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cyanogenmod 13 ROM now. Step 6: Select the ‘install zip from SD card’ option. Then on the next page select the ‘choose zip from SD card’ option. As soon as you select this option, it will show all the data present on your phone. Navigate to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cyanogenmod 13 ROM which you’ve copied earlier and select it. On the next page select the ‘Yes’ option to initiate the actual Android M flashing process. Be patient and wait a few minutes for the process to complete successfully. Step 7: As the process completes, again select the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option and ‘wipe cache partition’ option from the recovery mode to clear all your phone data & cache. This step is recommended to overcome the boot loops issue. Step 8: Now you need to install Google Apps (containing Play Store, Gtalk, Gmail, Maps, YouTube and Google Search, etc.) similarly as you’ve flashed the Android M-based CM 13 ROM. Note: Do not wipe data/cache after flashing Google Apps. Step 9: Everything completes here. Just restart your Galaxy S2 by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option from the recovery mode. Note that this first boot takes more time to start than usual. Note: If you do not like this ROM then you can easily restore your previous saved ROM by using the Nandroid backup/restore technique. For doing so, just boot into recovery mode and select the ‘Backup and Restore’ option, and then on the next page select the ‘Restore’ option. Then select one of the saved ROM you want to restore. Finally! The all-new Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cyanogenmod 13 Custom ROM has been successfully flashed on your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 smartphone.
