The normal pulse for healthy adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. A lower heart rate at rest generally implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. For example, a well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rate of around 40 beats a minute. SpO2 measurement is also a motivation for smokers trying to quit, as they can see the changes in their blood oxygen saturation.
