Dishonored: Death of the Outsider: UK price and platforms

Dishonored Death of the Outsider is now available to buy in the UK on PC, PS4 and Xbox One following its initial release on 15 September 2017.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider: What’s the story?

So, what’s the story in Death of the Outsider? It carries on from the events of Dishonored 2, but don’t worry if you haven’t played (or completed) the game as there are no real spoilers, just a hat-tilt every now and again (especially in the form of notes that you find throughout Karnaca). You take control of Billie Lurk (aka Megan Foster from Dishonored 2), a badass supernatural assassin that uses the power of the Void to uncover the mystery of the Outsider in true Dishonored fashion. Reunited with your old mentor, Daud, you’ll visit some of the grimiest places in Karnaca to find out more about the origins of the Outsider. You’ll come up against some of the most difficult Dishonored challenges yet, completed by using a combination of skill, stealth and face-stealing powers. Yes, you read that right, face-stealing powers. It’s one of a handful of never-seen-before void powers that Billie has access to during the campaign, offering a new way for even seasoned Dishonored players to enjoy the game. The entire game leads up to a big decision that’ll completely change the world around you – and it’s down to you to decide how it plays out. The storyline is as engaging and intriguing as ever, with a range of background knowledge via books and other notes found scattered throughout the environment.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider: Review

So, what is Dishonored: Death of the Outsider like to play? Fans of the Dishonored series will not be disappointed with the standalone DLC, as it features all the Hallmarks of a classic Dishonored title: brutal combat systems, unique level designs, immersive storytelling and the freedom to approach the challenge however you desire. It’s much shorter than the full game, rather obviously, so it provides end-game-esque Dishonored 2 content fairly early on in Death of the Outsider. We think this is great for casual gamers that don’t have a lot of time to play, but really enjoy the kind of experience that Dishonored games offer. It provides access to a range of incredibly powerful (and helpful) void powers from the get-go, allowing you to be as creative as possible with how you progress throughout the game. New powers include the ability to instantly teleport (if there are no obstructions like walls in the way), leave your body and explore the world while time is frozen, and the ability to steal somebody else’s identity for a short time. You literally steal their faces. These new skills bring an entirely new way to play the game, and unlike in the main game, your void power (or mana) regenerates automatically after a short period of time, allowing you to focus more on creative gameplay rather than your dwindling power levels.

There’s also a range of new and terrifying enemies available in Death of the Outsider, including the new and improved Clockwork Soldiers and the terrifying Sisters of the Oracular Order, each with strengths and weaknesses to be discovered. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a range of optional contracts for each mission that’ll have you exploring every inch of Karnaca for extra coins to spend on upgrades and other equipment. The campaign will keep you going for around 10-12 hours depending on your play-style, which is more than enough for the price.
